Sometimes, people think they can trick others by lying to them and get away with it. They might lie, pretend to be someone they’re not, or try to deceive people so that they can get what they want. But they forget that Allah sees and hears everything and that they can’t fool Allah.
In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:9), Allah says:
“They try to lie to Allah and the believers, but they fool only themselves, and do not even realise it.”
What Does This Mean?
Some people pretend to be good, but deep down, they don’t really care about doing what’s right. They think they can lie to others—and even Allah—but in the end, they are only hurting themselves. Why? Because dishonesty, even if no one sees it right away, always comes back to harm us.
How Can We Be Honest?
-
Be honest with yourself and forgive yourself if you make a mistake. If you make a mistake, admit it and try to fix it.
-
Don’t try too hard to impress others. Be good because it’s the right thing to do, not just because people are watching.
-
Remember that Allah sees everything. Even if no one else knows the truth, Allah does.
This verse teaches us that true success comes from honesty—with Allah, with others, and with our own hearts. If we keep good intentions, accept when we make mistakes, forgive ourselves and others when mistakes are made and try our hardest to be honest, Allah will be pleased with us and will help us to have good lives.
