Have you ever played a game where someone whispers a message, and by the time it reaches the last person, it’s completely different? Sometimes, people change words—on purpose or by mistake—to create confusion. Allah warns us in the Quran about those who twist the truth to mislead others.
In Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:78), Allah says:
“Note that among people there is a group who twists the words they say about the scripture so that you would think it’s from the scripture when it is not from the scripture. And they say it is from Allah when it is not, and they knowingly tell lies about Allah.”
What Does This Mean?
This verse warns us about people who change or twist the truth to make it sound like it’s from Allah when it’s not.
-
Some people misinterpret religious teachings for their own benefit.
-
Others spread false information, hoping people won’t notice the difference.
-
Even today, we must be careful about what we hear, read, and believe.
How Can We Protect Ourselves?
-
Always check the source. If someone tells you something about Islam, ask: Is this really in the Quran or hadith?
-
Seek knowledge. Learn from trusted scholars so you don’t get misled.
-
Be honest. Never change or twist information just to make it sound better or to win an argument.
Why Does This Matter?
Truth is sacred. Islam is built on honesty, and we should never allow lies or distortions to take its place. When we seek knowledge from the right sources, we protect ourselves and others from falsehood.
