25. Being Honest and Keeping Promises

Have you ever trusted someone with something important, only for them to break their promise? It hurts when people don’t keep their word. But in the Quran, Allah teaches us that true believers are those who are honest and fulfill their promises.

In Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:76), Allah says:

“For those who keep their promises and fear, Allah loves those who fear.”

What Does This Mean?

This verse teaches us that Allah loves people who are honest, trustworthy, and do the right thing.

  • Keeping promises means following through on our commitments, whether big or small.

  • Being righteous means making choices that are fair, kind, and honest.

  • Mindfulness of Allah (Taqwa) means remembering that Allah sees everything we do.

How Can We Apply This in Our Lives?

  • Be honest, even when no one is watching. A truthful person is respected by others and loved by Allah.

  • Keep your word. If you promise something, do your best to fulfill it.

  • Fear Allah in all your actions. Ask yourself: Would Allah be pleased with what I am doing?

Why Does This Matter?

This verse reminds us that character is more important than status, wealth, or power. If we are truthful and trustworthy, we earn the love of Allah—and that is the greatest reward of all.
